Run to the Light - John 8:12

An apocalyptic vision of the future, the darkness is approaching, many governments have rejected Christianity. Christian foundations and worldview are being overturned, many traditional church denominations have embraced heresy, wickedness and apostasy..... the only hope that exists in this broken, fallen world is still the Lord Jesus Christ, who said I am the Light of the World - John 8:12. And the Bible is still the place where people go to find comfort, hope and Salvation and People are still running to the light and finding that all who follow Jesus will never walk in darkness. Jesus said I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail. Matthew 16:18.

The inspiration for the picture? A few weeks ago I was watching a Derek Prince video on youtube, I must have dozed off as I had a heavy cold so was drowsy.....and then I woke up to a discussion amongst a group of well known intellectuals, discussing Christianity and the question Does God Exist? Listening to what was being said while still sleepy, made me reflect......then I had some kind of vision.......I saw in the vision small figures running away from the impending darkness that was descending upon the world, they were running as fast as they could....in the direction of light which was in the far distance. In the vision they were terrified at what they saw as the darkness approached. I understood what the vision meant - it was as though those who were discussing are terrified of a world without Christianity....and they are honest enough to understand that the world we see, civilisation has been built on Christian principles and foundations.....they understand they owe so much to Christianity. But the world which has been built with this worldview, the world and its framework is fast crumbling. The darkness is approaching, they see what's coming in the darkness....its terrifying. They are running as fast from it as they can.....

The Second Coming of Christ

When I first saw Phil Saints picture - The Second Coming of Christ a few days ago, (See photo below) I thought how amazing even though the photo was black and white/sepia. I thought it was so remarkable - I decided to make it in colour! During these days of turmoil in the world - There is only one safe option and that is putting your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ - He is coming again, In Glory! Are you ready? I have seen alot of depictions of the Return of Christ over the years - but to me this is how it should be painted!  

I remember after I was converted years ago - the first picture I wanted to paint as a new Christian was the Return of Jesus Christ.   Revelation 6:15-17 was a verse of scripture God used to convict me of unbelief... and the Return of Jesus Christ was very much upon my mind, but I was only a young artist then, still learning...and I struggled over a month or two trying to compose and make the picture....I gave up in the end.  So I decided to concentrate on learning and studying art more.  But when I saw this picture a few days ago, it was so amazing to see and how topical this subject is with all that is going on in the world today!. The late Phil Saint (1912-1993) the artist who made this amazing picture was brother of Nate Saint, (martyred in Ecuador along with four other missionaries)  Phil Saint was a missionary in Argentina for many years along with his family. Phil's ministy and art has touched many lives in USA, Argentina - A pictures really does speak a thousand words and even though Phil has gone to his heavenly reward!  today his art contunues to speak to lives all over the world!

The Secret of England's Greatness.

Secret of England's Greatness

A few days ago I was reading an old book...it had much fascinating reading and information and then I came across something which stopped me in my tracks and made me reflect on times past and how "God fearing" the population of the British Isles used to be and what a difference it made upon the world... In the book - the author had written ...."When an African Prince asked Queen Victoria the secret of England's greatness, she handed him a Bible  and said the secret was to be found therein."  My apologies to the rest of the British Isles.....the prince probably would have meant the British Isles, but I am quoting from the book......Afterwards I went searching - and found old black and white engravings which also recount the same story and others suitable to put together to make into one picture and colorized....The text underneath the Bible in the centre of the picture ...."the throne is established by righteousness." Proverbs 16:12. 

I also discovered elsewhere - Reading accounts of Queen Victoria's Coronation - We note how much reverence and importance was placed upon the Bible and the role it has played, as had been the custom in previous Coronations since Edward the VI. ( It is a remarkable story, one I shall return to - why the Bible has such a pre-eminent place at coronations of the Kings and Queens of Great Britain)  Below is something which was written from another book in 1838 and gives us some idea of the gravity and influence of the Bible has had upon Queen Victoria's life and reign:

"This custom, my dear Friends, has been continued to the present day. The Presentation of the Bible to the Sovereign forms a very touching part of the service, and it will be particularly interesting to you to know, that on the present occasion, our beloved Diocesan has been employed in carrying the Bible immediately before the Queen in the Procession.  The Archbishop presents it to her, saying,

Gracious Queen, we present you with this Book ; the most valuable thing that this world affords. Here is wisdom ; this is the royal law ; these are the lively oracles of God.

Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this book, that keep and do the things contained in it . For these are the words of eternal life, able to make you wise and happy in this world, nay wise unto salvation , and so happy for evermore, through faith in Christ Jesus ; to whom be glory for ever ."  From the book "God save the Queen. A sermon preached in Godalming Church on the occasion of the coronation of our most gracious Queen Victoria the 1st."  by the Rev. W. R. Fremantle, A. M.  1838.

* While researching the above anecdote "The Secret of England's Greatness" and Queen Victoria. There is another picture, a more famous one painted during Queen Victoria's reign which now hangs at the National Portrait gallery  Below are comments written on their website underneath a photo of the painting. What do we make of it when they cannot prove the anecdote to be untrue, but dismiss it anyway.?

"The scene depicted is based on a popular but unfounded anecdote current in the 1850s. This stated that, when asked by a diplomatic delegation how Britain had become powerful in the world, 'our beloved Queen sent him, not the number of her fleet, not the number of her armies, not the account of her boundless merchandise, not the details of her inexhaustible wealth … but handing him a beautifully bound copy of the Bible, she said 'Tell the Prince that this is the Secret of England's Greatness'." It is sad sign of our times. I also came across other websites too, which question the validity of the anecdote. Most view the story cynically while claiming many things, they do in fact appear more biased and flawed than the history and characters they are supposed to treating unbiasedly. Wisdom and fairness should always determine how history is presented and portrayed. We also note today there is widespread hostility towards anything connected favourably to the Bible. Why is that?.

Should we really accept the opinions of historians and experts when their obvious bias disqualifies them? Rather should we not challenge them and hold them to account.

With all that is happening today because of cancel culture, and unfavourable narratives about Britain's history and culture. Now more than ever we should be seeking wisdom and fairness to be the final arbiter when looking at British history.

So I have made what I consider important points to remember when reading this subject of this anecdote. We must note - Non of those commenting negatively or questioning the anecdote mention this.

The first which doesn't prove anything, but indeed shows the curious way the question is phrased is likely someone from outside the British Isles - The question "What is the secret of England's greatness." Naming "England" is a common mistake many foreigners make when applying the name "England" to the whole of Great Britain, which was made up back then of Scotland, Wales, England, and the whole of Ireland.
Queen Victoria herself was no doubt well aware of this pictures existence and story. Given the great level of public awareness and interest in the picture throughout Britain, as it toured the British Isles. Neither the Queen nor her courtier's ever cast doubt on the veracity of the story behind the picture. It very much appears this was accepted at the time and there is no record of any one questioning it.
Without Queen Victoria herself challenging the story of the picture during her lifetime, or anyone else at the time....we can only conclude it very likely did take place.
With no evidence to disprove the anecdote, it should be presented from a neutral standpoint and the public allowed to make up their own minds without being swayed by personal opinions or bias of historians.
By all accounts Queen Victory was regarded as a truly committed Christian. It is well known she had a strong Christian faith. A visit to the Billy Graham website is just one example of stories shared about the life of Queen Victoria.
Would this story seem out of character with what we come to understand of Queen Victoria's faith?

One has to note non of the various websites which have articles written disparaging the anecdote ....Make mention of any background information shared above.....And one has to ask why? Is there a political agenda the way they want to present Britain's history to the public?.

Vaccine - 2 Chronicles 7:14

Earlier this year in February, I woke one morning......dreaming of a man who was weeping at a prayer rail made of stone....On the old stone rail covered in moss and lichen were the words "if my people who are called by my name would humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14. When I awoke, I wondered what can this mean...it was just before everyone fully understood the implications how serious the Covid Pandemic would be. In October, For a few days I reflected on this scripture again....Could it be there is only one remedy that really works? Scientists can work in vain looking for a vaccine when the real healing can only come from God, the virus is a symptom of something much deeper - Sin. 1 Chronicles 7:14 How should God's people respond? What if the sin of the whole world today could be traced back to a lukewarm, comfortable Church too in love with the world? Could it be what AW Tozer said "Too Many Christians feel at home in this world" – That's where the sin is. Why even a book was written by a celebrity pastor "Live your best life now" Listen to what the last Ravi Zacharias says - "but you know this is the problem the Muslims have shown us up we don't know what we believe when they present their ideas to an average young Christian going to these emergent churches. One of the most prominent of those churches draws over twenty thousand on Sunday... you can read his book in that entire book of having a better life now, or best life now and so on. there is not one mention of the cross in it, there is no gospel there, and so you know along with all the other compromisers we're gonna be shown up and the idea of are see here you can't show counterfeit if you do not know what the genuine is and I think that's a big price we are going to pay very dearly as a result of this kind of lack of proper teaching." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=881b4vkbN_A

Pray for George Soros

I need to share for agreement in prayer. I wont go into much detail, I think most of you are familiar with what is happening in different places around the world and what is at stake. Most will have heard of George Soros. but if unsure, Its quite easy to find information about him on the internet. There is every reason to believe we must pray specifically for him. That the light of the Lord Jesus Christ would be shone upon George Soros, not just him, but his activities also. Rather like Saul of Tarsus on the road to Damascus. If you keep up with the news you will understand . Many of the groups he supports - if they succeed in their goals, life as we know it will change overnight. So we need to arise in prayer and action now, before it is too late. (More sketches may come) but The picture here is specifically for George Soros and the Light of the Lord Jesus Christ to shine upon him... You are welcome to print the picture and what is shared. For prayer in your church's and fellowships. But above all we need to pray!! I am doing my best to alert people for prayer and action....But others are also too.

Please pray in agreement in Jesus Name!..... Because nothing is impossible for God! The Lord did it for Paul (Saul of Tarsus ) - He can do it for George Soros! Let George Soros hear - "Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “George, George, why are you persecuting Me?”

May the Lord even wake George Soros in the middle of the night and show him His great need of the Lord Jesus Christ!

"...He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end." Ecclesiastes 3:11 God puts eternity in the heart of man -There is a day when we all have to stand before God and give an account for our lives - good or bad! And so we need to pray George Soros will repent and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ. Since the rioting, many Innocent lives have been lost including children, because of all the trouble.

A scripture verse to finish on - To ponder and pray over for all the would be activists, revolutionaries and extremists -
"There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. "Proverbs 6:16-19

The Great Reset

The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history - George Orwell

British Police run from giant robots threatening to squash all they see who oppose their narrative. - "the mob" whipped up by radical political groups funded by those who want world domination and power - They call it - "The Great Reset" a polite term for revolution - but its actually about destabilizing democracies and undermining freedom. A soft totalitarianism, where race has been weaponized in this war to silence, cancel out and demonize all who do not agree, at the same time sowing seeds of division and hatred - Many already lose jobs or removed from their posts because they do not agree or accept the narrative driven by radical Marxists/communists. Many already cave in through fear....if we look at history....we see many parallels, and its precisely what happened.. when Hitler and the Nazis rose to power. He used the race card to demonize Jewish people and blame them to get what they wanted. Also the communists had lots of practice destabilizing nations since World War 2, using the same tactics and strategy. In the book 1984, a dystopian social science fiction novel by English novelist George Orwell. Portrayed such a terrible world where only one point of view is allowed. It was published on 8 June 1949. Sadly today, we see a parallel. The threat is real - As a famous quote says “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” So this is not the moment to be fearful...this is not a moment to be hiding under the table, or behind the curtains thinking it will all blow over. What does the scripture say - "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7

We who belong to the true Church have the answer to the Great Reset - The Kingdom of God!

We hear much about Black lives matter, White lives matter, All lives matter....But there is only one thing that truly matters. Are we washed in the blood of the Lamb? If not, it makes everything else rather irrelevant. Because it is only through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ we are truly reconciled to God and Man. Those of us who already belong to Christ and in the household of faith are united, whatever skin colour. It's a glorious reality, a wonderful reality which we must celebrate and live out! We must reflect this on earth as it is in heaven….where no racism or injustice exists…..let it be on earth as it is in Heaven in and through our lives. Churches must unite and visibly demonstrate unity to oppose forces which would we have in Christ publicly. Proclaiming unity in the streets and squares...The world needs to see the reality we have in Christ Jesus!

Last week. (Weekending 31/05/2020) ......I was wondering about many things....and what is happening in life, to the state of the world, but also to those who die without Christ......wondering what I could do better to reach the lost. As I lay in a melancholic state of mind .....The tune of a majestic Hymn by Charles Wesley came to mind...and blew the melancholy away!

Lo! he comes with clouds descending,

Once for favoured sinners slain;

Thousand thousand saints attending

Swell the triumph of his train:

Alleluya! Alleluya! Alleluya!

God appears, on earth to reign.

My heart jumped at this joyous thought of Christs’ return, this majestic hymn so eloquently conveys! The wondrous thought of Christ’s return! Let us savour this wondrous thought! But do we all look forward to that day? As we better believe….not a maybe, or a could be….it's a certainty! Live your life in the light of Christ's return…and YOU will be full of joy!

But someone might say, what about the lost you were thinking about? Well of course we pray and endevour to be a faithful witness.... But the day is coming when time passes to Eternity...and for the Christian it will be joy unspeakable...but for the lost who die without Christ - it is too late. God knows when this will happen ...and the signs are already happening as it is written in scripture…...

Jim Stier of YWAM Brasil, prayed recently week for the Lord to pour out a great wave of the fear of the Lord during these times….Let us agree with Jim in prayer and say - Amen!

Mas alguém poderia dizer: e os perdidos em que você estava pensando? Bem, é claro que oramos e nos esforçamos para ser uma testemunha fiel .... Mas está chegando o dia em que o tempo passa para a Eternidade ... e para o cristão será uma alegria indescritível ... mas para os perdidos que morrem sem Cristo - é muito tarde. Deus sabe quando isso vai acontecer ... e os sinais já estão acontecendo, como está escrito nas escrituras ...

The Gospel Ship is now republished from an original Chomolithograph print circa 1880s - 1900s. The designer HY. P - Henry Pickering (1858–1941) was a well known Christian publisher and Journalist. And made an ingenious way to apply scripture and Bible texts into a maritime theme. Research so far shows three very similar versions. One other similar picture had been designed about the same time and mentioned in an article in the Herts Advertiser 29th January 1887. Title "Homeward Bound" designed by WCM - William Charles Miles, journalist and designer of the Gospel Compass and Gospel Target. It is not known if any examples of WCMs "Homeward Bound still exist...but if any visitors know of any examples, please contact me. It is not known if Henry Pickering designed other pictures, but one other design is similar - The Gospel Lifeboat, is a similar idea with Biblical texts and scriptures. The source and inspiration for the picture is not clear. But in Rev J H Vincent's 'Curiosities of the Bible' (New York, 1888) gives us an outline to the pictures design, with an explanation of religious quotes and texts to explain teachings from the Bible.

A vision of a Gospel ship on dry land was seen by many during the Hebridean Revival...

"Another night, as we left, we saw in the open field, a ship, as if it was a navy ship, all lit up, all lit up between the masts and everything. But we knew it wasn't real...... for it was on dry land, it was on dry land. We couldn't, we couldn't say a word. None of us could even speak. In October, 2007, George Otis, Jr., along with son, Brook, and a small team, returned to the Outer Hebrides in Scotland. Their purpose was to meet people who had experienced the extraordinary revivals that occurred there in the 1920s, '30s, '40s, and early '50s.

Vision of a Bible Ship

The following article was found among the papers of the late A.W. Pollok, B. A., who graduated from Dalhousie College in April 1872, and was drowned at Port Hawkesbury in August of the same year.

"As I lay musing a vision passed before me of a noble ship. She was built in the New Jerusalem, and her builder and maker was God. Her timbers were of the strong oaks of Zion, her masts of the tree of Calvary, and her rigging of the cords of love, her cable of the three-fold cords of faith, hope, and love, which could not easily be broken. Her helm glittered like the star of prophecy. Her anchor was from Immanuel's land. Her figure-head was the emblem of righteousness, and her name was the Word of God. From stem to stem, from deck to keel, she was a goodly ship. Her deck was the broad platform on which Christians stand. Her guns thundered forth the terrors of the law, but her mission was emphatically peace. 'Her weapons were not carnal, but spiritual, mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.' Her painting was beauty. She was streaked with white, and sprinkled with blood. Her ship's crew were the Apostles and Prophets. Her captain the Prince of Peace. Her cargo was truth, and her broad banner love, the inscription 'Glory to God in the highest, peace on earth and good will to men.' She sailed over a tempestuous ocean. The billows of hell drove furiously over her bows, but her bulwarks were impregnable. She carried no boats for her safety, because she never could go down. Her progress was onward, wafted by the breezes of the Eternal. She sailed from the port of heaven, and her destination was to the habitable parts of the globe, and her mission to the ends of the earth. The nations hailed her approach with joy. She scattered blessings in her course, and returned homeward bound, freighted with living souls, and anchored under the throne of God and the Lamb.

*Chromolithograph printing is a method of printing superseded by Offset printing in the 1930s. Even though it was an old method of printing - Chromolithographic prints are highly regarded.

Some days ago (March 2020) while listening to the 1984 song by Foreigner - "I want to know what love is" Somehow the thought of well known clown, singing this song before the Cross of Jesus came to mind. - I was astonished and amazed as I listened and thought of the clown singing these words! I thought Yes! Perhaps someone, somewhere impersonates this evil clown...but God has a plan! Anyway, the music and the image of the clown singing didn't go away.....and so I decided to make a picture - What the enemy meant for evil, God will turn for good! According to the Gospel there is no-one actually beyond redemption. If a lost sinner willingly come to Christ, the Lord will never cast them out or turn them away if they seek Him with all their heart and humble themselves like a little child ......The Lord indeed wants the world to know this - There is no-one too far gone or beyond redemption.....As Charles Wesley's hymn- O for a thousand tongues to sing makes perfectly clear - "His blood can make the foulest clean;" The power and the victory of Jesus Christ is total!...but we must come on His terms! He bids all sinners come to Him through His sacrifice on the Cross. Christ has made the way, and has the power to save totally all who come to Him...and has the power to transform any sin wrecked soul and make them a new creation. "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that in Christ God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting men’s trespasses against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation." 2 Corinthians 5: 17-19

Taxi to Fortaleza - Another Day in Paradise.

It was a very hot day last week 20/03/2020 in Caucaia and so I decided to take a taxi to Fortaleza, at least the queues to pay bills should not take hours.. The taxi was a good one, nice air conditioning... and sound system.......and so settling down for the journey, my thoughts once again returned to the health crisis engulfing the world.....and certainly apprehension for Brazil, for friends, neighbors and the vulnerable ....But just as we are driving along The taxi driver reaches for another music disc to put in the player. Deep in thought, I am not paying much attention...but then begins a familiar sound I have not heard in years, its one of Phil Collins - As I listen ....its as though I had never listened to the words before, and somehow I was transfixed by what was sung. I could see a scene being played out, a scene which must have been played out a million times before in Brazil...It was as though God showed me In all this world crisis.....What He sees everyday.......The poor and forgotten, the street kids, the street dwellers and the marginalized. There in that taxi...I was shocked. When we arrived at Fortaleza.....What was I going to do about what I saw. The picture - Another Day in Paradise - (I made a few changes to the words of the song).

The Stone Prayer Rail

I woke one morning......dreaming of a man who was weeping at a prayer rail made of stone....On the old stone rail covered in moss and lichen were the words "if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14. Then I awoke, and wondered what can this mean....A Stone Prayer Rail?.....One can usually see them in some old churches....but usually they are used for receiving communion and blessings. But this stone rail in the dream was for prayer and situated outside. I have prayerfully meditated on this and this is my visual interpretation of the dream I added a scripture in the picture "Your troops will be willing on your day of battle. Arrayed in holy splendor, your young men will come to you like dew from the morning's womb." Psalm 110:3. The world is getting darker and everything that can be shaken is being shaken......only unshakable things will remain....We as people of God must do our part...allow Christ in us to reign through our lives...live out 2 Chronicles 7:14 - The Lord has promised to fulfill His Word if we humble ourselves and pray and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways. As the scripture says Psalm 110:3 His troops will be willing on the day of battle.....are we ready for the day of Battle? ....We just need to look at Church History and we will see.....ordinary people with an extraordinary God.....do extraordinary things through Christ - .if you know Christ - Then this is your destiny!

While recovering from an injury to my arm a few months ago - It was as though I took a last days tour on youtube!

During that time I listened to many messages on youtube...but one in particular caught my attention, Pastor Anton Bosch shared a story about travelling on a train in the UK. And it got me thinking very deeply.....and took me back to memories I hadn't thought of for years - about the story of another train journey and the sobering dream of a man who saw a beautiful train on a journey to Hell.

I had more or less forgotten about this.... I must have been in my twenties, I first saw a documentary which mentioned the dream and the man who saw it - it left a deep impression. And the memories came back after all these years and after pondering and meditating on the subject what Pastor Anton Bosch was preaching about out. I was determined to follow this up and started to search online about the dream and the train. The documentary was about a Franz Jägerstätter, a conscientious objector who died a martyr's death protesting against the Nazi regime. And to my very great surprise it so happens, a film is released this year about the story of Franz Jägerstätter. The film is due to be in film theatres this month of December 2019. A Hidden Life

"From 1938 on, Jägerstätter told the story of a dream that he had about a train. It was a beautiful train – attractive especially to the youth that streamed toward it. The voice in the dream was unequivocal, “This train is going to hell.” The dream served as a warning to Jägerstätter that no matter how attractive the Nazi movement seemed – especially to young people – it was nothing but pure evil.

The Falling Away

Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3

Well what does this falling away look like, someone might ask? Well, we don't have to look very far for an example! In many ways what happened to Germany not so long ago is a prelude, a dry run - the Evangelical Church in Germany started falling away late Victorian period…. but this was not worldwide…this falling away was in one nation and it prepared the way for Adolf Hitler to gain power.

During the time I was recovering, I had also been listening to Derek Prince preach what I thought was a completely different subject - But when I settle down to listen - Derek more or less starts off his message talking about the great falling away and mentioning the state of the German Church at the start of the last century...leading to Adolf Hitler!. You could say, indeed the Lord had my attention!...and it was as though pieces of a jigsaw puzzle falling into place!

What is happening today in the main stream churches is a falling away…How else can we explain what is happening! How this will unfold worldwide we don't know yet, but it looks like it will be a precursor for the real Anti Christ and all we have been warned would happen.

Earlier this year Darrow Miller shares about the state of the Evangelical Church in Germany prewar - and it is very telling. The pre war Church in Germany was silent and even gave their blessing for Adolf Hitler. Only a small remnant....and this is what is the most chilling part ...a very small number stood up and opposed Hitler. And that dear friends is what should concern us all very much today - Are the conditions right for the anti Christ to appear? Remember out of the devastation of the 1st world war…..Adolf Hitler appeared as a saviour for Germany and ascended to power. If another world war happens or catastrophe which shakes the world…...who do we think may appear out of the ashes?

As a boy I listened to stories my great auntie Florence would share, she was a strong Christian. She lived through the 2nd world war and understood exactly what it would have meant if Hitler invaded the UK. For them at that time Hitler was seen by many evangelicals as the Anti Christ. But the state of the German church at that time and what happened to it, how do we explain this? Hitler was seen as the saviour? And given the way things are today....people are still looking for a saviour, but not seeking or following after Jesus Christ. And what does God do with such a people who refuse to love the truth ? God will give them a powerful delusion....as we can see from the History of the 20th century...we can see parallels....but what of the 21st Century?

The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder, and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. For this reason, God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie, in order that judgment will come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness. 2 Thessalonians 2: 9-12

Right from the very beginning, Franz Jägerstätter refused to cooperate or support the Nazis, who took over power in Austria in 1938, as he viewed Christianity and Nazism as being completely irreconcilable. Well before the Anschluss, Franz had been an anti-Nazi, but the event that brought his aversion to a much deeper level was a remarkable dream he had in January 1938. Perhaps it was triggered by a newspaper article he had read a few days earlier reporting that 150,000 more young people had been accepted into the Hitler Youth movement.

In the dream he saw “a wonderful train” coming round a mountain. The gleaming engine and carriages seemed especially attractive to children, who “flowed to this train, and were not held back.” Then a voice said to him, “This train is going to hell.” He woke Franziska to tell her of his dream and continued to think about it long afterward. The train, he realized, symbolized the glittering Nazi regime with all its spectacles and its associated organizations, Hitler Youth being one of the most important and spiritually corrupting.

The dream seemed to Franz a clarifying message from heaven. The Nazi movement — with its racism, its cult of violence, its elimination of those members of society regarded as unfit, its efforts to suppress Christianity — was satanic. It was nothing less than a gateway to hell.
